Silver Duke of Edinburgh for Schools

Training Day – Badger Adventures will visit your school to provide a route planning session for your D of E Gold practice expedition.  Food and kit sessions will also be provided.

Practice Expedition

Day Trek Description
1 Arrive at the Start early, where the instructors/supervisors will check the participants food and kit, and group kit will be handed out. Then the group will walk to camp, with the instructor delivering Navigation Skills and Emergency Procedures on the way.
2/3 The group will then execute the rest of their route, with the instructor remote supervising them. At the end of day 3 the groups will walk into a Bunkhouse, where they will clean and return group kit. The group will be debriefed by their instructor, and can then relax with hot food and a shower.
4 Route planning day for the Qualifying and the head home.

Gold Qualifying Expedition

Day Trek Description
1/2/3 Arrive and execute the routes that have been planned

Whats included?

  • Bunkhouse and YHA (at the start and end of your practice, and at the start of your assessment)
  • Camping fees
  • Group equipment (tents, group shelters, stoves, gas, maps, first-aid kits, wild No.2’s kit)
  • Quality supervisors / accredited assessors (all have ML and exped first aid trained)
  • Green forms submitted
  • Comprehensive training days and route planning days

Not included

  • Transport to the expedition area
  • Your personal equipment
  • Your food for the duration (before / during / after the expedition)
