Hadrians Wall guided cycle trip from Badger Adventures
Friends, Romans and fellow cyclists (chariots)
Come and join us, and cycle Hadrian’s Wall, being guided Badger Adventures style taking in some of Britain’s classic history. So let us plan your trip and guide you along this alternative route resting at carefully sourced accommodation, where you’ll be fed and watered after each day of cycling through some of England’s most scenic surroundings.
This three day cycling adventure starts with a shuttle to Siloth, after a hearty breakfast and you set off on your adventure heading towards Bowness on Solway. Guided by our experienced guides you’ll be cycling where the Roman Legionnaires trod.
Your cycle guide will be riding alongside you whilst your luggage is being transferred to your accommodation. Our support vehicle will be travelling close by to assist should there be any mechanical issues
Hadrian’s Wall runs from the remote fort of Bowness on Solway, (The Solway coast is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).) to Wallsend on Tyne. This trip is designed to be a more concise snapshot of Hadrian’s wall.
Constructed in AD122, and completed in 16 years. Its purpose was to keep the Barbarians out, and to control the movement of people across the border.
There is plenty of time to peruse whilst on your rambles. Roman forts (Chester’s, Housesteads, Birdoswald); Museums (Segedunum-Wallsend, Housesteads and Vindolanda); Milecastles, which are fortified gateways, and the romans put two watchtower turrets in-between.
For the entire trip, you will end your day of cycling and exploring with carefully sourced accommodation, followed with an evening meal, breakfast and a packed lunch (or a buffet style lunch if the route allows) for you next day’s trek, which are all provided.
As you leave to explore, so does your luggage onto the next accommodation awaiting for your arrival. The vehicle is always on the trip, supporting you at certain points along the way.
It is tradition on a Badger Adventure Trip, to sample good cake and coffee along the journey before resting your weary bodies at carefully selected accommodation where good hearty food will await.
Cycle into the finish, and then join Badger Adventures for dinner, to celebrate your achievement, and travel home the next day, with plenty of time for your travel arrangements
